Something For Cat

When you leave

There are peonies in my coffee, oh our jokes

Affliction still sleeps at your door

Knocking

Drinks are still spilled

Those summer photos you try to ‘rid of

But you know that it’s still hard to

Cat clock strikes forward to midnight for us

I left my Repettos in the grass

A rose is not just a rose this time

I thought of floorboards

Sneaking and creaking, dust is blushing

With this, my happiness may be challenged

But it won’t e’er end

I thought I stepped into a room of love for you

But it was with you

Banished my fears to sip life’s champagne

There’s something you had to say

But you can’t remember for the life of it

In the rain of London

I saw my love struggling at the door

And I thought to leave it because I made mine

Open years before

I had a book on getting better

That book turned into ten

Those books didn’t help

But I just knew I would again

Have not my lover, still my best friend

Happiness may be challenged

But it won’t end
